A Message from Our New Imam
Dear brothers and sisters,
Â
Assalmu alaykum wa ramatullhi wa baraktuh. I want to thank the IACC Shura, the Imam Search Committee, and the entire community all of you for putting trust in me, and giving me this opportunity to serve IACC in this new role. For the past eight years, I have worked in the capacity of IACCs Resident Scholar, a position that has required from me to have a very focused role: the role of managing Taqwa Seminary, and developing educational programs for people who are seriously interested in learning their dn.Â
Â
Today, I am taking on a different role, a different position: one whose scope reaches far beyond the classroom and covers a much wider set of responsibilities. I fully recognize the heavy responsibility that lays on my shoulders, but with your dus and support, and with tawfq from Allah (subanah wa tala), I hope to build on the legacy of our previous imams: Imam Yaseen, Imam Mokhtar, and Imam Azhar.Â
Â
I hope to cultivate a community of people in our masjid who truly love Allah, truly love the Messenger of Allah , and truly love one another.Â
Â
I hope to cultivate a welcoming spirit in our masjid that attracts both old and new faces to this House, which belongs to no one no individual, no committee, no group but Allah! The Prophet  said, The masjid is the home of every Believer. (ilya, a)
Â
I hope to build new bridges, and strengthen the existing bridges, with other faith leaders and people of influence in the wider community, to bring khayr to the DFW area.
Â
And I hope to develop programming for all segments of our community that is thoughtful and well-designed: especially for our youth, our young professionals, our sisters, and our converts.
Â
To achieve all this and more, I ask you for your support, your advice, and your dus.Â
Â
Over the next few weeks, I plan to meet with people who are in charge of various committees in our masjid, to learn from them how we are doing, and discuss a plan for how we can do better.Â
Â
I also plan to meet with a number of imams in DFW to learn from their experience and wisdom, and to bring the best practices from their masjid into our own.Â
Â
I ask you to cooperate with me, to be patient with me, and to pray for me. If you have any suggestions for me, or any ideas that you would like to share with me, please come and see me in the Imams office. I would love to sit down and listen to you. You can also email me at any time at [email protected]. Jazkum Allhu khayran.
Â
Your Imam,
Â
Arsalan Haque
