Sacred Days Ahead: Dont Miss the Virtues of Muharram & Dhul Hijjah + Join Us for Iftar on Ashura!
Welcome Muharram 1447 AH
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
Alhamdulillah, the new Islamic year 1447 AH has begun!
This is a time to renew intentions, increase our worship, and reflect on the countless blessings Allah has given us.
As we enter this spiritually rich period, let us take full advantage of this blessed season, the first month of the Islamic year carrying immense reward and opportunity for forgiveness.
The Sacred Month of Muharram
The Prophet called Muharram:
The month of Allah the best fast after Ramadan is in the month of Allah: Muharram.(Sahih Muslim)
This sacred month is an excellent opportunity to start the year with fasting, reflection, and taqwa (God-consciousness).
The Day of Ashura Saturday, July 5, 2025
The 10th of Muharram, known as Ashura, is a day of historical significance and immense reward. It marks the day when Allah saved Musa (AS) and Bani Israel from Pharaoh.
Fasting the day of Ashura, I hope, will expiate the sins of the previous year.
(Sahih Muslim)
Sunnah: Fast on the 9th and 10th or 10th and 11th to differentiate from other traditions.
The 9th & 10th of Dhul Hijjah
We are also reminded of the virtue of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, which the Prophet praised as:
There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.(Bukhari)
Especially, fasting on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah (Day of Arafah) brings the reward of forgiveness for the past and coming year.
